The thought of hypnotherapy can be incredibly off-putting. If you have never experienced it, or known anyone whom has visited a hypnotherapist, all kinds of thoughts may be playing around your mind.

When you are hypnotised, nobody can make you do anything that you do not want to do.
Having a consultation with a professional hypnotherapist is NOT stage hypnosis. They will not have you standing on one leg and hopping around the room - unless you want to do that of course!

Hypnotherapy is usually a relaxing experience and really CAN help you overcome all kinds of emotional and mental blockages and fears.

Hypnotherapy is recommended for the following
  • Quitting Smoking
  • Fears and Phobias
  • Self Confidence
  • IBS
  • Weight loss
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Limiting Behaviour
  • Depression
  • Sexual Dysfunctions
  • Stress

Many trained hypnotherapists offer a free initial consultation. If you have any worries about undertaking a course of hypnosis, do speak to your practioner.

Do check that your hypnotherapist is a member of a recognised body. In the UK, the following are recommended.

  • The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR),
  • The Hypnotherapy Association (HA)
  • The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC)

Costs vary, but do expect to pay at least Ј30 per session. You are unlikely to need more than a couple of sessions for most treatments, however some may six or more. Your practitioner will be able to advise you, as they will have a general idea on how long different severities of cases require.

Do as you feel is right, and if it feels wrong don't do it!.
